Why it exists
A dosing ring that is half a millimetre oversized leaves a ledge for grounds to sit on, and that ledge ends up under the gasket. Fit tolerance is the whole product.
Machined aluminium ring cut close to the basket rim so there is no step for grounds to catch on. Sized specifically against Breville and De'Longhi portafilter seats rather than a generic average.
Seat it, grind, stir, lift straight up. If you switch between two machines with different diameters, buy the ring for each rather than forcing one to serve both.
